Chris Connolly has 10 years of military experience. In 2005 he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Film from Miami International University of Art & Design. In 2008 he was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army and assigned to the 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry (Airborne) out of Ft. Richardson, Alaska. Connolly’s unit was deployed in 2009 to Afghanistan for 12 months where he functioned as a Public Affairs Officer and Information Operations Officer. Over the course of his service in Afghanistan as a First Lieutenant Connolly documented various aspects of his work and social interactions. In addition to the materials exhibited on the Asch Center site, he has produced portfolios of both Afghan children and the “Elders” who traditionally conduct business and social affairs in the country. In April of 2011 Chris left active service to pursue a career in the TV/Film/Photography industry and currently resides in the Los Angeles, California area.
